**Your contribution**

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a key role in integrating laboratory automation into computational pipelines, delivering robust, user-friendly solutions that accelerate scientific innovation. You-ll contribute to projects ranging from automation UX enhancement and anomaly detection to predictive maintenance and Physical AI.

Initially, you-ll join a pioneering project to develop an AI-powered lab assistant capable of designing and executing automated experiments on Tecan liquid handling robots.

**Responsibilities**

* Design, develop, and encapsulate automation interfaces for liquid handlers and detection instruments using modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python).

* Develop and support SDKs (Python, C\#, Go) for programmatic access by AI, data science, and scientific users.

* Ensure APIs and integration layers are robust, well-documented, and optimized for developer experience.

* Design translation layers between experimental workflows and Tecan-s proprietary scripting language for seamless robot motion planning.

* Work with protocol datasets and leverage large language models or code-generation models to produce reliable and safe automation scripts.

* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver robust, user-friendly solutions for laboratory automation, including building AI algorithms and features to improve product UX.

**Your background**

* Currently pursuing or completed a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Robotics, AI/ML, or a related field.

* Strong foundation in Python programming.

* Comfortable working with transformer-based models (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).

* Familiarity with robotics control, automation, or motion planning; interest in laboratory automation and biotech.

* Experience with laboratory automation systems is a plus.

* Knowledge of C++ and/or C\# and understanding of lab protocols is nice to have.

* English required; German is a plus.

* Strong team player with excellent communication and technical presentation skills.

* Brings passion and talent to the role, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and iterate quickly.
