Lead Public Safety Dispatcher

Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of emergency calls; determining nature of call; prioritizing emergency and non-emergency calls; identify the level of response necessary to provide additional information to the responding units.

Provides emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority emergency medical dispatch system.

Monitors status and availability of police, fire and medical units to assure an appropriate response is made.

Ensures that the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing emergency response dispatching of police, fire, and/or medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
