The Team You'll Work With
You'll be joining our Carta Law team, specifically within the Contracts - APAC function. Carta Law is the largest AI-native law firm for private capital, born from the combination of Avantia Law and Carta. Our Contracts team manages the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for clients – from first review through to execution.
You'll be the direct day-to-day contact for sophisticated investment fund and asset manager clients, working alongside fellow lawyers and paralegals. This team delivers high volumes of pre-M&A contract work at speed, supported by AI-backed tools including Carta's proprietary platform, Ava.

Independently negotiate and execute high volumes of pre-M&A contracts — NDAs, NRLs, joinders, and engagement letters — liaising directly with counterparties against agreed SLAs.
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for sophisticated investment fund and asset manager clients, building trusted advisor relationships.
Maintain and evolve client-specific contract playbooks, ensuring consistency and quality across every negotiation.
Mentor junior lawyers and paralegals, reviewing their work and contributing to a high-performing team culture.
Use and continuously improve Carta's legal technology suite, identifying ways to innovate using AI-backed tools
Manage the full contract lifecycle for each matter, from first review through execution and system logging.
About You
Law Degree and licensed to practice. You're licensed to practise law in any APAC jurisdictions, the UK, US, or Canada, with 5+ PQE
Track record. You've independently negotiated pre-M&A contracts like NDAs, NRLs, joinders, and engagement letters in a financial services legal environment.
Trusted advisor. You build lasting relationships with sophisticated investment fund and asset manager clients and communicate legal advice crisply.
Commercially minded. You balance legal risk against business objectives and flag issues before they escalate.
Collaborative leader. You mentor junior lawyers and paralegals and take ownership of your work in a fast-paced environment.
Tech-forward highly preferred. You're proficient with AI-backed contract review tools and look for ways to improve them.
Language capability highly preferred. Able to review and negotiate in Japanese, Korean or Mandarin
