You will edit stories for clarity, cohesion, and conciseness.
You will serve as the primary liaison with authors during the editing process.
You will ensure that the layout and illustrations are suitable for the content.
You will coordinate with authors and subject matter experts to determine the completeness and accuracy of the photographs, captions, footnotes, references, graphics, and any other data that may be included with the stories.
You will coordinate with the senior designer (art director) and printing personnel regarding the printing schedule and reports any printing issues to the director
You will ensure the quality of the documents by determining the accuracy of the facts, by aligning stylistic conventions with appropriate style conventions, and by determining the overall coherency of the documents.
GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector editing historical and scholarly monographs and journal articles for publication using the Chicago Manual of Style; conducting research to verify accuracy of facts and documentation of sources; AND verifying the accuracy and completeness of materials provided by the author.
GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in editing historical and scholarly monographs and journal articles for publication using the Chicago Manual of Style; conducting research to verify accuracy of facts and documentation of sources; AND verifying the accuracy and completeness of materials provided by the author.
