Olson Kundig is a design practice founded on the ideas that buildings can serve as a bridge between nature, culture, and people, and that inspiring surroundings have a positive effect on people’s lives. The firm’s work can be found across the globe, with projects as wide-ranging as huts to high rises, homes - often for art collectors - to academic, cultural, and civic projects, museums and exhibition design, places of worship, creative production, urban design, and interior design.

We are seeking an Interior Designer III to contribute design, technical, and coordination expertise across all phases of interior design work, with a primary focus on commercial interiors and the ability to support select residential projects. Working closely with project leadership, this role helps develop thoughtful, well-resolved interior environments from programming and concept design through documentation, specifications, and construction administration.

You’ll join a team where curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong sense of urgency help shape thoughtful work and support your growth as a designer.

Design & Documentation

Develops interior design concepts, space plans, test fits, material palettes, finish strategies, and graphically strong presentation materials that translate client goals into clear design direction.

Prepares interior design documentation, including plans, elevations, finish plans and schedules, interior details, material palettes, FFE, art, and specifications.

Applies knowledge of interior systems, finish materials, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and product solutions appropriate to interior environments.

Reviews, compiles, and prepares project specifications in coordination with project leadership.

Project Coordination & Management

Supports the planning, programming, design, documentation, and coordination of primarily commercial interiors projects.

Coordinates with Partners, Directors, Principals, project managers, consultants, vendors, fabricators, contractors, and reps to support design intent, technical resolution, budgeting, procurement coordination, and project delivery.

Supports and may lead portions of construction administration, including submittal review, RFI coordination, finish sample review, and site observation related to interior design scope.

Communication & Collaboration

Communicates design and technical viewpoints clearly in team, consultant, vendor, and client-facing settings.

Prepares and contributes to presentations, design narratives, meeting materials, and external project communications.

Contributes ideas, solutions, and deliverables in collaborative project environments.

Growth, Leadership, & Mentorship

Guides and reviews work by less experienced interior design team members.

Contributes to process improvement, knowledge sharing, and the ongoing development of interior design materials, tools, standards, and workflows.

Must Have

Education: a professional degree in interior design, interior architecture, architecture, or related design discipline.

Experience: 5-9 years of related professional design experience, preferably within an architecture, interior design, or integrated design practice. Working knowledge of interior construction, millwork detailing, finish schedules, furniture systems, materials, and specifications.

Digital Literacy: Proficient modeling and documentation skills using Autodesk Revit.

Portfolio: Submit a portfolio that demonstrates interior design, technical documentation, materiality, and presentation skills.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and vendors.

Work Style: High attention to detail, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, creative, and dynamic environment

Nice to Have

Demonstrated experience on commercial interiors projects; experience with workplace, hospitality, retail, cultural, or mixed-use project types is preferred.

Residential interiors experience, or a demonstrated residential sensibility around materiality, detailing, furniture, and client service, is a plus.
