As an Exhibit Specialist your duties include, but are not limited to the following: Provides design expertise across a wide variety of media, including three-dimensional (3D) physical exhibits, online features for the ONHM website, and ONHM's standard reports and fliers.
Leads all design aspects while contributing to development and integration of content, working closely with ONHM colleagues and the exhibit sponsor to produce final versions for required review and approvals.
Serves as website co-moderator, maintaining consistent look, feel, and functionality across the ONHM website and ensuring compliance with NIH policies and federal requirements. Designs and produces ONHM documents such as annual reports, flyers, and promotional materials.
Works with NIH Office of Information Technology web development staff to create, test, and post webpages from approved designs and content, including formatting, links, images, credits, and promotional metadata.
Basic Qualification Requirements: At the GS-11 level: Choose the one answer that best describes how you meet the Basic Qualification Requirements for an Exhibits Specialist, GS-1010-11 as described in the Qualifications Section of the Vacancy Announcement. A.
I qualify for this position at the GS-11 level because I have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related. B.
I qualify for this position at the GS-11 level because I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning and designing physical and/or online exhibits, taking into consideration visual design principles, in a historical, university, museum, or scientific setting; providing design expertise across a variety of media, including three-dimensional (3D) physical exhibits, online/web-based exhibit features, and standard organizational annual reports, flyers and promotional material; coordinating the proper restoration of exhibit items; assisting in designing and developing historical exhibits that incorporate designated themes and objectives and are tailored to the intended audience in physical or online settings; and working with technical independence in the construction of scale models, information displays, computer imagery, booth props and presentation scenarios.
C. I qualify for this position at the GS-11 level because I have a combination of graduate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. D. My experience and/or education do not match the choices above.
At the GS-12 level: I qualify for the position because I have one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: leading or co-leading the design and development of historical, museum, or interpretive exhibits for physical (3D) and/or online environments; translating information into exhibit designs by deciding which items and artifacts to feature and how they will be depicted to support the exhibit's objectives; managing exhibit project timelines, design requirements, and production activities.
