The posting
You will serve as the Compliance Supervisor for the Environmental Division within the Public Works Department located at Naval Base San Diego.
You will assign daily tasks of staff members to ensure work is completed based on priorities and capabilities of the employees.
You will maintain communication with clients, regulators, contractors, activities, and all levels of authority to understand requirements and verify compliance with environmental regulations.
You will coordinate short-term and long-term strategic environmental planning.
You will develop or approve scopes of work for the acquisition of contractual support requirements and monitor execution and compliance.
For the GS-0819 Environmental Engineering Series Only: This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Registration as a Professional Engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico is required.
NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR LICENSE WITH YOUR APPLICATION. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) At least 4 years of experience in environmental compliance showing at least 2 media (air, water, tanks, hazardous waste, etc, 2) Leading or overseeing others in adherence to environmental programs, policies, guidelines, regulations, and compliance provisions; 3) Conducting site inspections and work practice evaluations to determine compliance with environmental laws and regulations for multi-media programs; 4) Preparing briefs, official correspondence, or information related to environmental projects and programs; 5) Planning work to be accomplished by others and setting overall environmental protection program goals and objectives; and 65) Utilizing planning, budgeting, and schedules to coordinate environmental compliance programs NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.
