The posting
You will layout, connect and disconnect temporary electric power lines from dock power supply to ship's shore power terminals.
You will lay out, make temporary installations, connect and disconnect Shipyard provided temporary lighting circuits and various blower, pump and other accessory electrical equipment circuits.
You will install and remove temporary ventilation systems and address electrical Grade "A" pure water production and delivery issues.
You will lay out, connect, maintain and disconnect electrical cables and power supplies.
You will produce and deliver Pure Water.
You will operate and perform maintenance on electrical equipment associated with the Shipyard drydocks and marine railways.
You will use trade related tools to test volts, ohms, and safety of electrical components.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below.
This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.
The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT - laying out, connecting and disconnecting temporary power cables from Ship's shore power terminal to dockside power supply sources; determining Ship's power requirements; making temporary layouts and installations of main power supply circuits, ship grounding circuits, fire alarm systems, temporary power distribution panels of circuit breakers, step-down transformers and large mobile industrial equipment operating circuits; operating and performing maintenance on electrical equipment associated with the Shipyard drydocks and marine railways.
Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C).
