As an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER some of your typical work assignments include: Analyzing complex electric utility planning and operations of electric power generation, electric transmission system, power system reliability, and the electric power industry.
Using engineering modeling software programs such as: PSLF, PSS/E, PowerWorld and other types of engineering modeling software during their analysis. Developing and applying custom analytic tools and scripts, including Python-based code. Developing and applying custom analytic tools and scripts, including Python-based code.
Preparing written documentation to effectively defend and present findings and recommendations that are clear and concise to all staff levels. Providing expert level briefings at all staff levels of the government and industry.
Participating in multi-disciplinary teams to perform analysis and modeling of electric utilities operations facilities and interpret the results accurately to all staff levels.

In addition to the education required for this position, you must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level.
Specialized experience is defined as: Experience examining complex bulk power systems, threats and vulnerabilities issues of the electric industry, and analyzing highly complex electrical networks and/or electric infrastructures.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
