Policy Data Analyst

As a Policy Data Analyst, some of your typical work assignments may include: Coordinating FERC's information collection activities across the federal data lifecycle-from initial requirement definition through approval, maintenance, and expiration-ensuring full compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA), Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA), and relevant White House and OMB directives.

Evaluating proposed and modified information collections, identifying duplication across programs or agencies, and recommending process and burden reduction improvements using thorough research and interpretation of federal legislation, policies, and guidance related to data, information collections, and burden reduction, while advising Commission staff on impacts, risks, and opportunities to improve data quality and stewardship.

Supporting continuous improvement of FERC's data governance, information collection operations, and adherence to federal data lifecycle management principles, including the alignment of information collections to data assets, legal authorities, data products, and other relevant assets in the Commission's information landscape.

Developing, revising, and implementing data governance and data stewardship policies, procedures, and guidelines to strengthen FERC's enterprise data management environment and promote consistent, disciplined handling of mission critical data assets, including supporting the adoption and use of machine-readable data formats, standards, and artifacts that promote interoperability, automation of processes, and reuse of data.

Serving as a data consultant to program offices, facilitating definition of data and metadata requirements that support FERC's regulatory mission, improving analytic readiness, and minimizing unnecessary burden on the public and private sectors, through regular collaboration with Commission staff and other federal agencies to enhance data sharing, promote consistency and security, and eliminate duplicative data collections while upholding stewardship best practices.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in policy and data analysis, data governance and stewardship, information requirements and research, and developing recommendations, supporting rulemakings, and writing notices and memoranda.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
