This position serves as the Performance and Sport Data Analyst for the Semper Fit, Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR) portfolio to improve readiness, lethality, and resilience of total force in all domains of fitness: physical, mental, spiritual, and social and foundational building blocks of Marine Corps Total Fitness (MCTF).
The purpose of the position is to work with WARR team professionals to improve aspects of health and human performance assessment, training, and performance; balance the benefits and risks associated human performance programming using organizational and industry research evidence and scientific theory of human performance; and assist in the integration of patrons, coaches and organizational needs into decision making approaches to improve health, wellness, and performance of Marines and authorized patrons.
The incumbent oversees the delivery and implementation of sports analysis services across the WARR Portfolio and influences Marine physical performance by conducting performance assessments, making performance training recommendations, and utilizing athlete management systems and resources to support the development of human performance training.
The incumbent develops human performance presentations and reports performance data trends to civilian and military leaders using appropriate visual representations and data-supported presentation materials.
The incumbent requires collaboration efforts with the various providers within the WARR portfolio: strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, sports coaches, performance educators, dietitians, and mental performance coaches.
Develops and implements physical performance assessment processes to capture an individual Marine, athlete, or other authorized user's level of fitness to include, but not limited to, health history questionnaires, biometric measures, anthropometric measures, static postural assessments, movement screens, and human performance assessments.
The incumbent develops, tests, and demonstrates the various physical performance exercises associated with assessment protocols. Ensures the performance and sports analysis program operations align with USMC policy, industry, and DoD standards and installation standard operating procedures.
The incumbent oversees the performance and athlete management system, maintains the performance data infrastructure, and mentors Semper Fit program staff on using and integrating human performance technological resources to maximize the readiness of Marines and authorized users.
The incumbent is responsible for infographic development, information sharing guidance, and evaluation of human performance data distribution to support MCTF and Semper Fit WARR to maintain a continuous and up-to-date flow of information.
The incumbent demonstrates and conducts the performance assessments associated with physical fitness and demonstrates the various components of physical performance assessments to the participants which includes foundational movements such as push, press, squat, jump, and sprint.
The incumbent conducts additional assessments during the various phases of the program. The incumbent analyzes the data and creates human performance assessment reports and presentations, and presents the data as needed to various audiences within the Marine Corps Community.
The incumbent works closely with the Semper Fit WARR program staff to design sound strength and conditioning programming and periodization principles around constraints within the training environment such as equipment, operational needs of the unit, overall readiness of the unit or patron, or sport.
The incumbent works with the strength and conditioning coaches and athletic trainers to establish specific thresholds to help understand the different variables such as volume, intensity, cadence, range of motion, associated with prescribing a periodized training plan related to the authorized patron¿s human performance needs after analysis of a prescribed testing battery.
The incumbent will use up-to-date research and methodology to develop strategies that help to facilitate performance planning, monitoring, and assessment.
Supports the Marine Corps sports program by assisting in the administration of team or individual Marine athlete assessments and reviews the sport-specific physiological, psychological, and biomechanical processes of each sport.
Provides the information gathered from these assessments and reviews to the team coach or individual athlete to develop periodized programming.
Incumbent reviews Semper Fit WARR standardized educational course participant surveys to modify and develop WARR content to ensure proper sport and performance-based training and education integrate the best practices and meets the needs of Marines and other authorized patrons.
Participates in local advisory groups and councils, or command briefs related to human performance and presents performance-based data to higher level leadership within Semper Fit, makes recommendations on performance assessment protocols, subjective data collection methods, maintains relationships by collaborating with WARR providers through meetings, emails, and other installation communication methods.
Establishes relationships with civilian organizations to improve the health and performance of Marines and other authorized patrons. Works with other installation performance and sport professionals to help develop implement standardized performance protocols recommended by Headquarters Semper Fit. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Human Performance, Sport & Exercise Science or related field with statistical training or expertise. Master¿s degree preferred. AND 1 year of applicable experience.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach from Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association or National Strength and Conditioning Association required. Ability to obtain a Sports/Performance science certification from an accredited organization such as the NSCA Performance Sport Scientist (within 6 months of hire).
Collegiate or high school sports experience preferred Knowledge and understanding of performance and sport data collection, quality, management, and interpretation and usability of health and performance measures.
The ability to assess the effectiveness of performance and sport technology such as athlete management systems, mechanical sensing systems designed to measure ground reaction forces, gait analysis and maximal oxygen consumption for military readiness and resilience.
This includes informing staff about new athlete management and performance assessment technologies, conducting research on athlete monitoring systems, and implementing solutions to improve processes and communication within the WARR structure.
The ability to teach and guide staff on how to use subjective and objective assessments to inform performance-based programming is delivered to units. Knowledge of human performance assessment and training protocols.
Has the ability to consult the organization about data and performance outcomes to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations for planning and executing projects specifically related to health, sport, athlete or tactical performance.
The ability to express oneself orally and in writing in a highly professional manner, compose written reports and material concisely and effectively, and present oral and written communication to large public audiences at units, community events, or other audiences as needed.
Knowledge of Microsoft Power Point, Word, Publisher, and other various software applications. Knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media applications.
Demonstrate skills associated with the development of presentations, infographics, dashboards, and reports using sport and human performance data based on the needs or characteristics of the audience as it relates to health literacy of diverse audiences.
Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of tactical strength and conditioning, exercise physiology, nutrition, and the ability to apply this knowledge to establish and maintain human performance data repositories and protocols.
Knowledge and ability to demonstrate foundational movements and various exercises associated with strength, conditioning, and performance assessments. Knowledge and skill to review and write sport and strength and conditioning programs based on performance data outcomes, command training tempo, military occupation, or sport.
Knowledge of sports, team and individual athlete needs and the ability to review the team or athlete physiological, psychological, or biomechanical assessment and performance outcomes and the knowledge to review and create sport-specific periodized training plans.
The skill and ability to review human performance-based survey or participant outcomes of standardized curriculum designed for Marines and other authorized users. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Requires a valid driver¿s license. Occasional travel within and outside the local commuting area.
