As a TRAINING SPECIALIST at the GS-1712-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Plans, executes, coordinates, and evaluates faculty development and instructor training programs.
Develops, reviews, and updates faculty development lesson plans, facilitator guides, instructional materials, practical exercises, and assessments using adult-learning principles and established instructional methodologies.
Observes instructor and facilitator performance, provides coaching and developmental feedback, identifies instructional skills gaps, and recommends targeted development activities to improve instructional effectiveness.
Coordinates faculty development with leadership, course managers, instructors, and organizational stakeholders ensure training requirements are effectively supported. Provides technical guidance to instructors, course managers, and leadership regarding instructional techniques, adult learning practices and established training standards.
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating faculty/instructor development programs designed to improve instructional effectiveness, facilitation skills, and adult learning practices.
Applying adult-learning principles, instructional systems design, and training-development methodologies to develop, revise, and assess instructor certification, faculty development, train-the-trainer, using modern instructional strategies or delivery methods.
Supporting development and delivery of instructional materials and determining training tools to support program objectives. Monitoring instructional technologies to improve training delivery.
Providing technical guidance, coaching, observation, and developmental feedback to instructors and facilitators; assessing instructor readiness and supporting qualification, certification, or continuing faculty-development requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 1712 series.
Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. or Experience Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program.
Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. *NOTE: Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position if you're using education to qualify.
