Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies — from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups — use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe's Financial Crimes, Compliance and Risk Oversight (FinCRO) organisation serves as Stripe's second line of defense, ensuring we operate as a responsible steward of the global financial ecosystem. You will join the Product and User Enablement (ProUse) team within FinCRO, acting as a trusted compliance advisor to our first line business teams (e.g., GTM, Risk, Ops) to help scale business and grow our user base globally.

What you’ll do

We are looking for an experienced compliance advisor who is fluent in both compliance regulations and commercial reality. You will not just be a specialized advisor, but a strategic partner responsible for scaling our business by embedding compliance intelligence directly into our technical infrastructure to support our users.

You will be the bridge between Stripe’s compliance obligations and our users' ambitious goals, moving away from manual, person-dependent models toward a dynamic, agentic structure.

You will provide expert guidance for our complex user challenges to actively shape them. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design user solutions that both support users' growing journey with Stripe and satisfy compliance rigor.

Stripe is both a technology company and a financial services company. You will need to be comfortable straddling those worlds every day, moving quickly in the face of ambiguity to help scale our business globally.

You will be a critical team member responsible for

Partner deeply with GTM and business teams for complex user deals to identify compliance roadblocks early and design the "path to yes" that aligns with our risk appetite.

Lead compliance reviews and risk assessments for material user matters, providing clear, risk-based recommendations.

Influence business roadmaps and design decisions, translating compliance requirements into clear, actionable product, control, and reporting expectations.

Lead with a first-principles approach, bringing sound judgment to novel user-related questions and helping teams identify practical, sustainable paths forward.

Deploy strategically as a subject matter expert to explain intricate compliance requirements to users and first line teams with authority, clarity, and empathy.

Work with users and internal teams to architect solutions and flows that meet compliance obligations while minimizing friction.

Work closely with Regional Compliance Officers, Money Laundering Reporting Officers, Legal, and other SMEs to support execution across complex, cross-functional user supportability designs.

Help business teams build durable compliance capabilities by making established requirements, precedents, and standards easy to understand and apply independently, driving a “compliant by design” approach.

Leverage AI and agentic tools to scale user enablement - including accelerating risk assessments, regulatory research, and requirements documentation - while applying rigorous judgment to novel, complex, or precedent-setting decisions and validating AI-generated outputs.

Minimum Requirements

9+ years of experience building and managing compliance programs in regulated financial services, preferably in fintech, payments, or banking.

Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and financial crimes/AML practices, with an understanding of the risk landscape applicable to a company like Stripe.

Proven ability to independently lead multiple complex projects and programs, from ambiguous early questions through implementation.

Ability to interpret regulations and regulatory guidance, identify the underlying risks they are intended to address, and translate those requirements into comprehensive, proportionate compliance programs.

Experience evaluating complex user requests for compliance risk and working with business stakeholders to implement creative solutions to enable users while meeting compliance requirements

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex compliance concepts into clear, commercial language for different stakeholders across the business, as well as with users directly

Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, including navigating leadership and interpersonal working relationships

Intellectual curiosity and comfort operating at the frontier, including exploring unfamiliar markets, product types, and regulatory frameworks.

Sound, independent judgment in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.

Genuine interest in financial product innovation and an eagerness to drive the industry forward by building and scaling products responsibly.

Demonstrated AI fluency, creativity, and judgment—actively identifies opportunities to solve compliance problems, improve product enablement, and turn repeatable work into scalable solutions. Uses AI to accelerate research, requirements mapping, and routine guidance while maintaining appropriate oversight of AI-generated outputs.

Preferred qualifications

Experience using AI or agentic tools in a compliance or regulatory context (e.g., for policy drafting, risk assessments, regulatory research, or workflow automation)

Experience with stablecoin, crypto, or emerging payments compliance

ACAMS, CRCM, ICA (Diploma or Advanced Certificate), or an equivalent certification
