We’re looking for a Senior Brand Designer to join our team, in Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Oslo, Bonn or Berlin.
Bakken & Bæck s a design and development studio working out of Oslo, Amsterdam, Bonn, London and Barcelona. Building digital products, brands and businesses, we help ambitious companies identify, explore and respond to new opportunities.
From defining the future home with IKEA to building decentralised platforms with Coinbase; we are in the business of breaking new grounds. As one international team across offices, we have all the skill sets needed to help businesses adapt to an increasingly complex world.
We’re committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels comfortable, regardless of their identity, experiences and beliefs. We want BB to be a place where you can try out new things with the risk of failing, where you can take ownership over your own work without being micromanaged, and where there’s a low barrier to coming up with ideas — no matter your job title or discipline.
Work-life balance shouldn’t be a perk, but a given. We strongly believe in flexibility, knowing that creativity doesn’t always happen between 9 and 5. At BB you’ll be given a lot of freedom, which means managing your own priorities, trying out new things and working a flexible hours scheme.
As a brand and communications team, it’s our aim to explore and implement new modes of interaction that evoke meaningful and inclusive connections between human beings and their technological surroundings. Combining strategy, storytelling and technology, we aim to create bespoke and resilient digital scenarios that help brands to transmit their identity, ideas and stories in the right tone of voice on all relevant platforms.
As a brand designer on the team, you will play a key role in all phases of our creative projects—from ideation through to production. Based on tested and strategic insights, you will define, design and build bespoke visual narratives, crafting all elements needed to create a consistent and delightful brand experience.
Throughout the process, you will work closely with our writers, strategists, art directors, motion designers, product design teams, development teams, and external collaborators, including photographers, illustrators, CG artists and sound designers.
Driven by a keen interest in contemporary visual culture, tech-driven identities and concept-led design, you are continuously seeking new ways to create brand experiences that feel fresh and inclusive.
You love working closely with other designers and developers, and are able to work at a fast pace without sacrificing attention to both essential details and the broader context. As we’re a small team, we’re looking for someone who feels comfortable discussing work openly and frequently with a wide range of people.
Responsibilities include
Leading the design of branding projects through conception, execution, and delivery.
Creating well-articulated design concepts.
Scaling concepts across a wide range of digital and physical outputs.
Defining design systems and guidelines.
Managing the quality of design from initial concept through to production.
Presenting work internally and to clients.
Sourcing and collaborating with talented partners (e.g., creative developers, animators, photographers, filmmakers, sound designers) to enhance the quality of the work.
Qualifications
5+ years of professional design experience (agency background is a plus).
Keen understanding of screen-based brand expressions.
Demonstrated expertise in developing design systems.
Proficiency in Art Direction.
Ability to articulate and present brand work to internal teams and clients in a confident and coherent manner.
Ability to work independently and proactively within a transdisciplinary team.
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma; experience with motion graphics, generative tools and/or 3D design is a plus.
What you can look forward to
Independence — BB is an independently-owned studio. We have the freedom to orient towards the projects we believe in, create a culture that is driven by people with small egos and huge hearts, and invest in long-term relationships with partners whose ambitions match our own.
Autonomy — Our culture is built on autonomy, responsibility and mutual trust. Instead of being prescribed a way to do things, we have the freedom to explore and develop our own methods and approaches, and to learn by doing.
Flexibility — We all have different needs when it comes to how we work. We are flexible on working hours, open to workations, and can provide opportunities to relocate to one of our other offices, as long as it doesn't hinder our projects and our team’s progress.
Continuous Learning — We want to invest in your growth. You will receive an annual allowance to invest in a course, class or conference — whatever you need to stay inspired and learn new things.
Doing things together — Collaboration lies at the core of our culture. Whether through trips or team dinners, we prioritise bonding experiences across offices when we can, fostering camaraderie and creativity.
Our offices — We have invested in creating welcoming spaces that provide our teams with what they need. Beyond the day-to-day, we use our offices to host team events, talks and parties.
Relocation support — If you’re moving to join us, we’ll help make the transition as smooth as possible with visa sponsorship and guidance, a travel budget, and thoughtful settling-in support — from housing tips and language classes to a buddy, welcome bundle, and a team outing to help you feel at home. The relocation package varies somewhat by location.
Because we want our team members to be actively involved in our offices, we do not consider remote applicants, but we’re happy to support relocation to come join us!
