Senior Backend Engineer (PHP/Python)

You will be

developing and maintaining business-critical platforms supporting commercial and financial operations,

building and enhancing backend solutions using PHP and Python,

developing REST APIs and integrations with external data sources,

designing and maintaining data import, transformation, and processing pipelines,

working with PostgreSQL and SQL to support application functionality and data processing,

contributing to the development of the Data Collection Platform, including API integrations and web scraping,

collaborating closely with Commercial, Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions,

participating in an Agile environment with 2-week sprints and quarterly planning cycles,

contributing to code quality, architecture, and continuous improvement of the platforms.

Your profile

strong commercial experience in backend development, including PHP and Python,

very good practical knowledge of Symfony,

strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL,

experience building and maintaining REST APIs and system integrations,

practical experience with data imports, transformations, or processing pipelines,

understanding of software architecture and backend design principles,

familiarity with Git and modern software development practices,

practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery,

ability to understand business requirements and proactively propose technical improvements,

strong communication and collaboration skills, including working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders,

ownership mindset and ability to work independently,

good command of English.

Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have

experience with Apache Airflow,

familiarity with Snowflake or other analytics platforms,

experience with AWS,

hands-on experience with web scraping solutions,

experience working with business intelligence or data analytics environments,

basic frontend development skills with JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS,

experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work,

interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches.
