ELECTRONICS MECHANIC

You will independently perform depot level overhaul, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, alignment, installation and maintenance on electronic systems of greater complexity.

You will maintain ongoing prototype systems as well as implement maintenance and repair procedures on major modifications of systems previously assigned to the activity.

You will work from manufacturer's specifications, schematics, block diagrams, and technical orders, determine the operation of circuits, locate points from which to take readings, and analyze circuit layout to complete necessary visual inspection.

You will serve as a subject matter expert in providing technical assistance to engineering personnel in resolving problems, as well as conducting formal training regarding proper use of components/systems.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: (1) Implementing maintenance and repair procedures on major modifications of electronic systems; (2) Participating in the overhaul, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of electronic systems; (3) Operating and maintaining complex automated test equipment (ATE); (4) Interpreting manufacturer's specifications, schematics, block diagrams, and technical orders; (5) Determining the operation of circuits and locating points from which to take readings; and (6) Analyzing circuit layouts to make visual inspections.
