If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for responding to all budgetary inquiries and is functionally responsible for providing management analytical support and guidance to the 94 United States Attorney's Offices (USAOs) with respect to financial programs, policies and procedures.
The incumbent will serve as the Supervisory Auditor and a team leader for a group of internal Auditors within the Resource Management and Planning (RMP) Staff office.
Typical work assignments will include: Supervising a team of Auditors in all phases of planning, conducting, and audit reporting of financial statements and other financial information. Coordinating activities associated with the periodic audits conducted for the finances and performance.
Serving as the technical expert in a wide variety of audit program management functions. Conducting audits to assess the degree of compliance with applicable laws and regulations for each field office. Analyzing findings of audits in response to management concerns regarding any major deficiencies in mission accomplishment.
Facilitating and providing direction and guidance when conducting financial and performance audits of programs and offices. Drafting audit plans to assess the degree of compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

To be qualified for this position, applicants must meet ONE of the following basic requirements. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.
Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
The applicant's background must also include one of the following: 1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; 2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or 3.
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements. **You must submit your transcripts (unofficial or official) to be considered for this position.
Failure to submit your transcripts may result in disqualification.** In addition to meeting basic requirements as described above, applicants must also meet the specialized experience as defined below. GS-14: To be eligible at the GS-14 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience is defined as: serving as a technical expert performing or advising on a wide variety of audit functions; conducting financial and performance audits; developing, analyzing and executing audit policies, programs, and procedures; interviewing personnel to gather audit information; and evaluating internal controls to determine reliability of reported results.
