SUPERVISORY AEROSPACE ENGINEER

Lead and supervise the Aviation Integration Directorate engineering and airworthiness efforts for supported classified and unclassified aviation-centric acquisition programs and projects.

Apply technical expertise in airworthiness of fixed wing, rotary wing and unmanned systems, providing engineering oversight and management to ensure aircraft and sub-systems meet flight safety and comply with Army and Federal regulations.

Forecast, coordinate and manage the budget for internal and external engineering and subject matter expert support for multiple Safety of Flight Review Boards supporting airworthiness.

Manage engineering support to multiple program offices developing unique aviation weapons systems and supporting sub-systems.

Supervise and manage engineering subject matter experts in support of multiple customers to develop and safely integrate capabilities on fixed wing, rotary wing and unmanned aircraft.

Lead and manage the organization’s system engineering efforts, engineering professional development and engineering talent management in order to deliver aviation weapon system capability.

Oversee the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for assigned area of responsibility.

Manage the development, modification, fabrication, integration, and installation of prototype unique aircraft systems and supporting sub-systems.

Assist program offices, engineers, budget office and logistic specialists in the development of weapons system costs.

Execute and lead test planning and testing of prototype aircraft systems.

Lead and manage engineering professional recruiting, development, motivation and retention.

Specialized experience: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (NH-03).

Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Testing the airworthiness of mission systems on rotary wing, fixed wing and/or unmanned aircraft, 2) Assessing the safety of weapon systems, including hazard analysis and risk mitigation, 3) Solving aviation problems using system engineering and program management methods and, 4) Leading a team in the accomplishment of organizational goals.
