ACCOUNTANT

You will analyze, reconcile, and maintain financial accounts and records to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with Federal accounting standards and Department of War policies.

You will prepare, review, and validate financial reports, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions to improve the accuracy and reliability of financial date.

You will use automated financial systems to research accounting data, resolve systems issues, and coordinate with stakeholders to improve financial operations and reporting.

You will support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to audit requests, and assisting with corrective actions to address audit finding.

You will interpret Federal and Department of War financial policies, provide accounting guidance, resolve complex financial issues, and advise management on financial matters.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or plublic sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal accounting standards, and Department of War or Department of Navy financial policies to resolve complex accounting issues. 2) Reviewing, analyzing, reconciling, and maintaining general ledger accounts, subsidiary ledgers, and financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance. 3) Preparing, analyzing and validating financial reports, statements, and supporting documentation used in financial management decision-making. 4) Communicating complex financial regulations and advising leadership, managers, and stakeholders on accounting policies, financial reporting requirements, and financial management issues.
